A case in point is when I first started meditation and learned a very important lesson. With eyes closed and deep into meditation, I saw a five-sided star turning end over end across my vision from left to right. As it got to about the midpoint of my sight a circle came rolling into my line of vision, too, and caught up with the star. They united. Now the star was within the circle. Without hesitation, I asked mentally of no one in particular, "What does that mean?"
Instantly I heard a voice state, "Man and God are one."
Next a purple pinpoint of light became barely visible straight in front of my eyes. As it moved towards me getting larger as it progressed, I got the impression that this was a person who came to help me learn. His personality was one that lacked social graces in that he seemed to have very little time when he spoke with me. Had this person not conveyed a hidden compassion- even though he seemed to want to make sure it stayed hidden - I probably would not have listened to his clipped sentences.
When I asked why he appeared in different hues of pulsating purple shapes, he answered, "Because I am a spiritual teacher."
In awe of this teacher and ever the student, but without wanting to appear stupid, I asked a sincere question and learned an even greater lesson. "What is your name?" Since then I have come to expect that a teacher not only teaches but also learns.
With an exasperated voice he acknowledged my question, but his answer was not expected. "Oh, that's right. You are human, and as a human you want to have a name for all with whom you speak." The words he sent to my mind were even more profound. "Do you have to know the name of every stranger with whom you come into contact? Some are here for knowledge or sight and no more. My name is Ramie, if you need a name."
Feeling as if I were in the first grade being chastised by my teacher, he led me to believe that he would not be around long. He implied that I needed to learn the lessons he had to teach swiftly. True to his word, this gave his message quickly and left just as quickly. Unlike John, he was not someone for whom I mourned, but he did give me very good advice.
Once out of the mediation, I called a psychic whose opinions I valued. Upon asking her about the circle and the star, I came to realize how people create and hold on to certain fears. Her first question to me was about the star and how the points were situated. I told her and she said, "Oh, that's easy. That means man and God are one." She gave me confirmation of the message I had heard.
This lady spoke from her fears when she told me about the points on the star. She explained that when they were pointed with two legs up and one leg down, it meant that it was satanic or evil. At that point I did not realize that a star could be used as an evil object when its points were set in a certain way. She thought it her duty to help me learn, but in teaching me that there was an evil symbol she allowed me to see through man's
